How This Map Is Made

This page is a personal site that collects places featured on TV shows and YouTube videos, episode by episode, and shows them on a map and in a list. It is organized so that you can look a place up when you are watching a show or video and wonder, “Where was that restaurant again?” Right now it gathers places from TV programs such as Saengsaeng Information (KBS 2TV), 6 O'Clock My Hometown (KBS 1TV) and Master of Living (SBS), and from YouTube channels such as Tzuyang and Gwangmani. Programs appear on screen starting with those that already have a verified place. We post a place's information only if it has been checked in the following order.

1. From the broadcaster's replay list or the YouTube video, we check the broadcast date (for a video, the upload date), the segment, and the menu item that was featured.
2. We look for two or more different sources that feature the same place with the same menu item, and compare them to see whether they agree. Usually these are two different blogs; for YouTube places, the video itself counts as one of the sources. Two posts from the same blog count as one source.
3. We check that the place's name and street address can be confirmed on map services.

If even one of these three steps does not match, we do not show the place's name or address and only display “Being verified.” We believe it is better to leave it blank than to fill it in with a guess. Once verification is finished, the place's information appears in the same spot.

We do not copy blog posts, broadcast footage, or sentences and photos from videos. All this site shows is the place name, street address, broadcast date and segment, and menu name, all written in our own words. For YouTube places we only attach a “Watch video” link that opens the original video; we do not load the video inside this page.

How to Search

Use the program buttons above to keep only the shows you want to see, and use the province/city buttons to narrow down the region. The two sets of buttons and the search box work together: for example, if you pick one program and one region and then search for “gukbap” (rice soup), only places that match all three conditions remain. In the search box you can enter a place name, a menu item, a neighborhood name, or a program name. If you want to see all past episodes of one program, go to that program's page through “Browse by program.”

Before You Visit

Things can change after a broadcast or video airs. A place may have closed or moved, and its menu and prices may have changed. Right after a broadcast, crowds can make waiting times long, or ingredients can run out early. This site does not list phone numbers, prices or business hours, to avoid giving you wrong information that changes easily.

Press the [Naver Map] and [KakaoMap] buttons on each place to open a search screen for that place. There, first check whether it is open, its business hours, its days off and recent visitor reviews. Places that are more than 6 months past their broadcast or video release have a separate mark, so please be especially careful to check whether they are still open. Before a long trip, it is safer to call and ask once more.

How Are Map Locations Shown?

The pins on the map and the distances in the “Nearest first” order are not the exact coordinates of each place but rough values based on the center of its city, county or district. So they can be several kilometers off from the real place. For the exact location and directions, please use the map buttons on each place.

The feature that uses your location works only when you press its button. Your browser will show a window asking permission to use your location, and if you allow it, the location is used only for distance calculation on this screen. The location value is not sent to a server or saved. The map image is not loaded until you press “View on map.”

Correction or deletion requests are applied as soon as we confirm them. When you make a request, please include the store name, the program name and the broadcast date so that we can find it quickly.
